Now that you are on the cloud there are some critical security concerns we need to address. The first will be fulfilling your HIPAA and HITECH requirements. There is an agreement you need to sign with AWS if you will be storing patient data on their servers. It is called a BAA. You should sign your BAA with AWS here.
The default location of the program is C:\EasyDent4
The database files are stored in C:\Easydent4\DB
The xray files are stored in C:\EasyDent4\File Server\Files
Before you start copying or moving the database the file server will need to be stopped.
Also the database service will need to be stopped
Below are general guidelines for setting up a cloud hosted server, then setting up to an Open Dental server.
To store images and documents in the cloud we use Amazon S3 services with encryption enabled.
There are a few companies who offer virtual servers that you can use to set up Opendental, we will be using Amazon Web Services (AWS): aws.amazon.com and the EC2 Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud Web Service (Amazon EC2).
